Wet wipes – a costly convenience?

April 21, 2015 by loudartford

Wet wipes have always been a staple in my kit, there is no denying their usefulness. They get used for so many things – cleaning me, the kit, brushes. They also get swiped by stylists to clean shoes, photographers to clean sets, the list is endless. Now at home I’m going through a ridiculous amount – actually using baby wipes for their specific purpose – a baby. Especially now that baby is eating solid food, the mess she makes is unbelievable. […]

Get the look – Christmas sparkle….

December 9, 2014 by loudartford

‘Tis the month of revelry with Christmas parties left, right and centre. Make sure you sparkle this festive season by adding some glitz with your make-up. Glitter and shimmer are perfect for getting in the mood and will brighten any outfit. I created these looks for Volt Cafe and think both would be great for some festive fun. For this first look I applied The Organic Pharmacy’s liquid shimmer all over the eyelid, blending it into the inner corners – […]

Get The Look.. Look Magazine

June 25, 2014 by loudartford

My brief for this look was fresh and glowing – one of my favourites! Our model Abby had lovely skin already with gorgeous freckles which I was certainly not going to cover up. I prepped her skin by cleansing with a creamy cleanser and toner and then massaged in Bodhi & Birch’s Neroli Luce Revitalising Face Oil. This is an amazing oil that leaves skin with a gorgeous glow but it isn’t greasy and make-up goes really well over the […]

Make-up Masterclass Number 2 – Spring Beauty, Glowing Skin and the Azure Eye

June 13, 2014 by loudartford

Last month I hosted a second make-up masterclass at Content Beauty, here are some tips from the evening – Glowing skin will never go out of fashion and it is something everyone can achieve. The first step to natural flawless skin is good skincare, getting into a good regime will really help your make-up as it will determine how good your make-up looks and how long it will stay looking good. Try doing a DIY facial once a week using […]

Little Shop Of Beauty

May 16, 2014 by loudartford

Last Saturday I was asked to give a talk at the Little Shop Of Beauty, a fabulous pop-up boutique in Marylebone. The shop was there from Friday until Sunday and featured a whole host of amazing beauty brands. It was a mix of products for inner and outer beauty. One of my favourite skincare brands Pai was there along with a new one called Silk and Honey which takes things from a different slant. Instead of buying a finished product, you […]

New additions to the kit – Living Nature

April 8, 2014 by loudartford

I am very lucky in that I get to try lots of different make-up and skincare. I like to try things properly so sometimes that means I get a bit of a backlog of products patiently waiting for their turn. I am however vowing to do more regular reviews – so here it goes! Living Nature is a brand that I have seen many times in places like Whole Foods but never had the opportunity to try until recently when […]

Get The Look: Gyunel A/W14

March 18, 2014 by loudartford

Fashion Month is over for another season – there were so many amazing clothes and make-up looks! I headed a show in London for the designer Gyunel, she wanted the girls to look beautiful, fresh and expensive but in a simple modern way. The fabrics were very luxurious so we wanted the make-up to reflect that. The stylist wanted the hair and make-up to complement the collection rather than distract from it, so we decided to keep the make-up quite understated but […]

Get The Look – Volt Cafe Organic Beauty Project

February 11, 2014 by loudartford

Natural and organic beauty is coming more and more to the forefront of people’s minds. Whether it’s because they are starting to take care of their health through an organic lifestyle, they’ve become aware of possible hazards in what they are currently using or they’ve just seen the power of what naturals can do, it’s all good. Many other make-up artists I know are starting to use natural and organics in their kit as they realise that they can live […]

Trying to clean my kit up and show green beauty is cool, and that we don’t need harsh, unsustainable or untested chemicals to look good. No hemp skirts in sight!

There was definitely spring in the air today ✨not that I don’t like winter but a little bit of warmer air and some sunshine might do my skin some good!! If your skin is in need of a little boost like mine, creamy blush and highlighters can be an easy way to add a healthy radiant glow - powders can sit in dehydration lines and makes things look worse sometimes.. this is @theorganicpharmacy highlighter before any fingers went in! I love to use fingers to apply - use one to gentle stipple product on and then a clean one to blend ✨how do you apply yours? . . . . . . #skin #winterskin #spring #skincare #makeuptips #beautytips #mua #makeupartist #greenmakeupartist #greenbeauty #cleanbeauty #organicbeauty #makeup #highlighter #radiantskin #creamblush
#tbt to this lovely valentines shoot a few years back with @ruifaria_ ❤️❤️ Can’t remember exactly what I used but I’m sure a lipstick for the red and pink and then I think Bella Pierre for the glitter (obvs would make sure it was biodegradable if did it again) ✨ ❤️💚❤️💚❤️hope your evening is full of ❤️ . . . . . . #valentinesday2019❤️ #makeup #valentinesmakeup #glitter #redeyeshadow #redlipstick #organiclipstick #beauty #greenbeauty #organicbeauty #cleanbeauty #mua #makeupartist #greenmakeupartist
#selfcaresunday of course it isn’t all about skincare by any stretch but I do like to do some nice skin stuff on a Sunday :) Tonight I’m actually keeping it so simple though, my skin is feeling sensitive and I’ve got some itchy dehydrated patches.. I’ve cleansed with @beautykitchen Prime Time Cream Cleanser (which I’ve used all week and it’s removed all makeup, washes off easily and feels nice and calming on my skin) and then I’ve gently massaged in some of @mallowandwhite chamomile and lavender oil 💜 these two ingredients are my go-tos whenever my skin is feeling delicate, simple but my skin seems to love them 💜 What’s your Sunday self-care? Image by @felicityingram skin by me :) (this was actually a food shoot and I think this was cream that we used.. lots of skin food in the kitchen..) . . . . . . . #skin #skinfood #skincare #skinroutine #skinregime #organicskincare #greenskincare #cleanskincare #beauty #makeupartist #beautyblog #greenbeautyblog #greenbeautyblogger #faceoil #plantoils
#tbt to this lovely beauty 🌸 the weather can’t make its mind up but I’m seeing lots of little flowers shooting up, the daffodils 🌼 are on their way too - spring is coming 💕 📸 @felicityingram #makeupbyme @stellacreativeartists anyone know this beautiful face? 🙊sorry her name has escaped me.. . . . . . . . #beauty #skin #radiantskin #glowyskin #flowers #edibleflowers #cleanbeauty #greenbeauty #organicbeauty #mua #greenmakeupartist #makeupartist #spring #springbeauty
#newblogpost talking about two beauty recycling programmes available through the wonderful @terracycleuk ♻️ 💚I’m getting slightly obsessed by the possibilities available... crisp and snack packets, pens, dental care, pet food... check them out! ✨back to the beauty... did you know you can recycle lots of your beauty empties at participating @loccitane_uk_ire stores including lipsticks, empty eyeshadow cases and mascara tubes... wipe and face mask wrappers (along with other waste) can be recycled through @garnieruk free programme as well... Any recycling tips?! ♻️♻️ . . . . . #sustainablebeauty #recycling #recycle #packaging #beautypackaging #beauty #makeup #greenbeauty #ecobeauty #makeupartist #greenbeautyblogger #beautyblogger #greenbeautyblog #noplanetb
🍓❤️🍓currently loving this Strawberry Booster from @bybibeauty I’ve been using it on me and a couple of clients and they’ve loved it too 🍓❤️ Just pure cold pressed strawberry oil (waste product from juicing industry ✅)- a couple of drops goes a long way. It works so well under makeup, giving skin a brilliant boost and helping foundation etc to go on smoother, but isn’t really shiny just gives skin a natural glow. I’ve also been using it as a pick-me-up over makeup in the middle of day - especially in this cold weather ❄️my product of the week for sure - and great value £12.50 ✅🍓 How are you beating the ❄️❄️? . . . . . . #skin #skincare #winterskin #sustainablebeauty #cleanbeauty #naturalbeauty #beautyblogger #greenbeauty #greenbeautyblogger #greenmakeupartist #mua #makeupartist

Almost the #weekend ✨hope you’ve got a good one planned - relaxing, partying, red lipping.. 💄❤️ Here is @absolution_cosmetics red lips on @totaroirene applied by me💚shot by @blackettphoto art directed by @adelecreativedirection hair by @lewis_pallett styling @angiesmithstyle ✨ Remember you can always wear just a hint of red to brighten things up - apply with your finger for a soft relaxed look and blot away until you feel comfortable 💄 . . . . . #fridaynight #redlips #redlipstick #mua #greenmua #greenmakeupartist #greenbeauty #sustainablebeauty #ecobeauty #cleanbeauty #consciousbeauty #organiclipstick
