Live web chat with Odylique!

October 20, 2015 by loudartford

I was really chuffed when organic and fairtrade skincare brand Odylique asked if I’d like to take part in a live web chat with them talking all things organic make-up. I’m a big fan of the Odylique range and can talk about make-up until the cows come home so it was an easy question to answer. We did it last Thursday night and it was great, I really enjoyed it. It was brilliant that so many people got involved, there […]

Beat the shine….

August 4, 2015 by loudartford

Whether you’re home or abroad, it can be hard to keep skin looking fresh in the heat. Healthy skin is not naturally matt so a glow is good, but it can be a fine line between a glow and excess shine; especially if you’re attending summer events where there is flash photography. What looks like a nice sheen to the naked eye can look like sweat in a photograph. Powder is not always the best answer though, applying more and […]

Anti-ageing make-up tips..

May 19, 2015 by loudartford

Everyone is looking for the anti-ageing answer it seems – I include myself in that I must say. Green juices, fancy serums, yoga, the list can go on and on. Much of it is a healthy lifestyle that we can all adopt to some degree; however there are things we can do for an instant youthful effect and no, I’m not talking botox.. The right make-up can lift and brighten any face within seconds. Natural Health magazine asked for some […]

Top tips for foundation…

May 12, 2015 by loudartford

Lots of women won’t step outside the house without theirs on while others don’t like the feeling on their skin, foundation gets a really mixed review. I think that it can definitely be a good thing if you choose the right one, as well as helping your skin look great, it can also protect and nourish it. Your skin type and condition will determine the type of foundation you decide to use as will the desired finished look. As we […]

Spring/Summer Make-up Trends

March 26, 2015 by loudartford

The clocks going forward on Saturday night may mean one less hour in bed but it also means that spring is here. The days are getting longer and warmer, flowers are in bloom and everyone is generally in a better mood! The new season also means new fashion and new make-up…. here is a little round up of some of my favourite looks from the spring/summer 15 runways… One beauty trend that reigned the spring/summer runways was fresh glowing skin […]

Get the look – you can wear black liner!

January 27, 2015 by loudartford

Black eyeliner will never date as a look, however it can add a few years to the wearer if worn in the wrong way; it can be too harsh around the eyes and end up making them look tired, heavy and smaller. Dark brown is a great alternative giving a softer yet still defined look. Be careful though, not all browns are the same – those with too much red in them can make eyes look tired as well. Grey is […]

Get the look – 4 smokey eyes

December 2, 2013 by loudartford

I have just spent the weekend packing and boxing up all my worldly possessions as I am finally moving next week! Trying to sort through all my make-up, books, references and stacks of paper I seem to acquire has not been easy; it continues to be work in progress and think will be for a while… I did come across these smokey eye how-tos though. I can’t remember what they were for but I thought would be nice to share […]

Get the look – tips to ‘lift’ the face

November 14, 2013 by loudartford

These are some notes that I wrote for a client of mine, we were talking about how to use make-up to lift the face. Be clever where you put it and it can take years off, but put it in the wrong place and it can drag features down. I have been teaching a lot this last week and lots of the students were applying too much eyeshadow to the outer corners of the eyes which was weighing them down. […]

Get the look – smokey eye step-by-step

September 16, 2013 by loudartford

I was recently asked by Look at Me, Superdrug’s beauty blog, to do a step-by-step smokey eye for them. I thought it would be good to show a really simple version, using just a few products. I used a black kohl pencil, two eyeshadows and a mascara. I think using a kohl pencil is one of the easiest ways to do a smokey eye. You can literally just smudge it into the top and bottom lash line – because you’re […]

There was definitely spring in the air today ✨not that I don’t like winter but a little bit of warmer air and some sunshine might do my skin some good!! If your skin is in need of a little boost like mine, creamy blush and highlighters can be an easy way to add a healthy radiant glow - powders can sit in dehydration lines and makes things look worse sometimes.. this is @theorganicpharmacy highlighter before any fingers went in! I love to use fingers to apply - use one to gentle stipple product on and then a clean one to blend ✨how do you apply yours? . . . . . . #skin #winterskin #spring #skincare #makeuptips #beautytips #mua #makeupartist #greenmakeupartist #greenbeauty #cleanbeauty #organicbeauty #makeup #highlighter #radiantskin #creamblush
#tbt to this lovely valentines shoot a few years back with @ruifaria_ ❤️❤️ Can’t remember exactly what I used but I’m sure a lipstick for the red and pink and then I think Bella Pierre for the glitter (obvs would make sure it was biodegradable if did it again) ✨ ❤️💚❤️💚❤️hope your evening is full of ❤️ . . . . . . #valentinesday2019❤️ #makeup #valentinesmakeup #glitter #redeyeshadow #redlipstick #organiclipstick #beauty #greenbeauty #organicbeauty #cleanbeauty #mua #makeupartist #greenmakeupartist
#selfcaresunday of course it isn’t all about skincare by any stretch but I do like to do some nice skin stuff on a Sunday :) Tonight I’m actually keeping it so simple though, my skin is feeling sensitive and I’ve got some itchy dehydrated patches.. I’ve cleansed with @beautykitchen Prime Time Cream Cleanser (which I’ve used all week and it’s removed all makeup, washes off easily and feels nice and calming on my skin) and then I’ve gently massaged in some of @mallowandwhite chamomile and lavender oil 💜 these two ingredients are my go-tos whenever my skin is feeling delicate, simple but my skin seems to love them 💜 What’s your Sunday self-care? Image by @felicityingram skin by me :) (this was actually a food shoot and I think this was cream that we used.. lots of skin food in the kitchen..) . . . . . . . #skin #skinfood #skincare #skinroutine #skinregime #organicskincare #greenskincare #cleanskincare #beauty #makeupartist #beautyblog #greenbeautyblog #greenbeautyblogger #faceoil #plantoils
#tbt to this lovely beauty 🌸 the weather can’t make its mind up but I’m seeing lots of little flowers shooting up, the daffodils 🌼 are on their way too - spring is coming 💕 📸 @felicityingram #makeupbyme @stellacreativeartists anyone know this beautiful face? 🙊sorry her name has escaped me.. . . . . . . . #beauty #skin #radiantskin #glowyskin #flowers #edibleflowers #cleanbeauty #greenbeauty #organicbeauty #mua #greenmakeupartist #makeupartist #spring #springbeauty
#newblogpost talking about two beauty recycling programmes available through the wonderful @terracycleuk ♻️ 💚I’m getting slightly obsessed by the possibilities available... crisp and snack packets, pens, dental care, pet food... check them out! ✨back to the beauty... did you know you can recycle lots of your beauty empties at participating @loccitane_uk_ire stores including lipsticks, empty eyeshadow cases and mascara tubes... wipe and face mask wrappers (along with other waste) can be recycled through @garnieruk free programme as well... Any recycling tips?! ♻️♻️ . . . . . #sustainablebeauty #recycling #recycle #packaging #beautypackaging #beauty #makeup #greenbeauty #ecobeauty #makeupartist #greenbeautyblogger #beautyblogger #greenbeautyblog #noplanetb
🍓❤️🍓currently loving this Strawberry Booster from @bybibeauty I’ve been using it on me and a couple of clients and they’ve loved it too 🍓❤️ Just pure cold pressed strawberry oil (waste product from juicing industry ✅)- a couple of drops goes a long way. It works so well under makeup, giving skin a brilliant boost and helping foundation etc to go on smoother, but isn’t really shiny just gives skin a natural glow. I’ve also been using it as a pick-me-up over makeup in the middle of day - especially in this cold weather ❄️my product of the week for sure - and great value £12.50 ✅🍓 How are you beating the ❄️❄️? . . . . . . #skin #skincare #winterskin #sustainablebeauty #cleanbeauty #naturalbeauty #beautyblogger #greenbeauty #greenbeautyblogger #greenmakeupartist #mua #makeupartist

Almost the #weekend ✨hope you’ve got a good one planned - relaxing, partying, red lipping.. 💄❤️ Here is @absolution_cosmetics red lips on @totaroirene applied by me💚shot by @blackettphoto art directed by @adelecreativedirection hair by @lewis_pallett styling @angiesmithstyle ✨ Remember you can always wear just a hint of red to brighten things up - apply with your finger for a soft relaxed look and blot away until you feel comfortable 💄 . . . . . #fridaynight #redlips #redlipstick #mua #greenmua #greenmakeupartist #greenbeauty #sustainablebeauty #ecobeauty #cleanbeauty #consciousbeauty #organiclipstick
